Released at the end of 2008 however I didn’t get my copy until a couple of months ago; hopefully there’s still some floating around but if you see one, jump on it. Apparently they also come with a cd single of the same tracks, although mine didn’t. Prepare to pay over the odds because it’s a piece of vinyl pressed and released in Japan but worth it for this single track, with the other three left way, way behind. This composition has an exquisite gentleness that makes you forget you’re listening to a four-on-the-floor house track with the off-beat repeated melody. Can’t help but wish it went on for longer, extended to cover a whole side – a soundtrack to dance under a starlit night to, with an approaching dawn infiltrating the blackness on the horizon.

Sunday – a day of rest, contemplation and reflection from the travails of the week just passed and planning for the week ahead. The Belle Of Atlantis, weighing in at over ten minutes long, affords you some opportunity to do that; perhaps even take a micro nap for the more mature listener. Brought to my attention by one of the mixes that Bruce Bickerton put up on his website and have since also heard him play on his wonderfully eclectic radio show that I’ve unfortunately fallen out of the habit of listening to of late. This is an astoundingly beautiful track that fully deserves it’s extended playing time and is but one track from a double album of ambient material that is worth time and effort to acquire. Put your feet up, close your eyes and let your mind’s eye journey to the legendary city, summoned by her call.

Black Dog Productions / Atypic – Pillars & Mirrors

Music that is more for the head and heart than purely for the feet but a skilled jock on the wheels of steel could throw this down and slip it in to deliver relief from a sustained period of battering by other beats. A track that epitomised a different direction to the majority of electronic music in the early nineties and The Black Dog were better equipped than many to lead the way into this uncharted territory. A contemplative and uplifting tune that I never tire of, even after repeated listens.

A sublime track with a sound that epitomises deepness, melding with the alpha waves of your brain and taking your mind away…
