Kiss 100 was a pirate radio station in London that got a legitimate licence in September 1990. It must have acquired a very strong transmitter as I could tune in, way out in the hinterland that was rural Essex. For me it was the right station at the right time as I had just got turned on to electronic dance music so this fed my interest. At 9pm each weeknight, they broadcast a specialist show and I always tried to record Steve Jackson (called ‘The House That Jack Built’) and Danny Rampling’s broadcasts. I then listened to them again on the bus into school the next day, making a note of the releases that I wanted. Most of these stayed on a growing list for years as I had no income save a paper round and pocket money which would have been swallowed up by the purchase of just a couple of import twelves! Steve Jackson played a lot of US deep house whereas Danny Rampling (remember this is in 1990) showcased a more European flavour and played a lot of Italian house/deep house releases.

I remember Steve Jackson playing this release and to me this seemed the natural progression of dance music and why it was the music of the moment as it continued where bands like Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre had left off in the eighties. They had been my first introduction to electronic music and although their earlier material is still relevant and fresh sounding to me, by the late eighties it had sounded increasingly irrelevant. The track Resurgan is probably the least explicitly dance-orientated track on the release hence my categorisation; I find it mesmerising, even now, eighteen years after it was released.
