A slight departure from the norm in that this is currently unreleased; heard it on the digital radio station that is BBC 6Music a few weeks ago. I was enjoying a racy Friday evening at home listening to Tom Robinson’s show as he was laying down an audio soundtrack for those of us not getting smashed out of our brains in pubs/bars the length and breadth of the country in the traditional British end-of-week ritual. Stations like this keep me informed of contemporary non-electronic music so I can give the illusion of being ‘down with the kids’ and for that I am grateful. On first hearing this song, I thought it was new material by José González; however this is an amazingly simple tune that has depths as deep as a Scottish loch. From his forthcoming album Home, which is available on vinyl in limited quantities to pre-order from the online retailer Boomkat, please buy them all but leave one for me.
