Managed to get hold of an advance promo copy of Bruce Bickerton’s new album, Get Lost, which is due out here in the UK on the 27th July. Having long been an appreciative listener of his output even before his debut 2004 album, Induction, the follow up has been forthcoming for some considerable time but here it is. Released to slay listeners, in the gentlest possible sense, with benevolent and serene downtempo sounds and in that regard, it’s no disappointment. Have selected the first track as the best summary of the Alucidnation ‘sound’ with it’s gentle caressing sub-100bpm beats; 15 Below reminds me of Small Hours by John Martyn and it’s rounded off with the perfect compliment to a still summer’s evening with Skygazer. However that’s not to cast aspersions on the quality of any of the other tracks in between because having listened to this repeatedly, it really does gain in stature when enjoyed in it’s entirety.
