Albert Hoffman RIP
From wikipedia:
The band were unique, even in the 60’s, in that they played most of their live shows and recorded their albums while on LSD
Not familiar with psychedelic rock, my brief brushes with it confined to viewing the ‘Pidgeon Toed Orange Peel‘ scene from the Clint Eastwood flick, Coogan’s Bluff and eating some mouldy rye bread. In these cases, when you have a whole genre of music that is unfamiliar, you need some guidance in the form of a huge compilation by an esteemed expert in the field and in this case you can do no wrong by getting the 4 CD box set of Nuggets – Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-68. Get it and freak out.

John Lydon said all music is intrinsically psychedelic and I tend to agree, however the true psychedelic experience demands a metaphysical metamorphosis usually via the use of hallucinogens. The elevators were true exponents of the psychedelic experience and very much of their time.
I would recommend checking out what was deemed at the time the new wave of psychedelia (around the mid nineties I think) with the american music collective centred around Elephant 6, neutral milk hotel but by far the best band Olivia Tremor control. Anything by this band but my favourite is Dusk at cubist castle – I think you’ll dig it Pinky.

Thanks for the comment Travis – I’ll be uploading some new tracks one-by-one from tomorrow. All styles, across the board, variety is the spice of life as they say
